Matt made the move to England to sign for Southampton in August 2020 and has enjoyed a steady growth through the scholarship age groups, signing his first professional deal in March 2023.
The Northern Ireland youth international, who has represented his country at U16, U18, and U19 level, joined Saints from Glentoran in his native country.
He was a part of the Under-18s Premier League South title-winning team in the 2021/22 season, and has featured several times up the age groups for the B team.
After an injury hit 2022/23 season, he made a return to action at the end of March for only his second appearance in six months after making a full recovery.
