SOUTHAMPTON FC WOMEN
Our journey so far
Formed ahead of the 2017-18 season, playing in the Hampshire County Women’s Football League, it’s been quite the journey for Southampton FC Women’s senior side and there’s plenty more to come as they aim for the top flight in England.
Saints are currently playing in the second-highest division, the Barclays Women’s Championship, having achieved three promotions in the last three full seasons (the pandemic curtailed both the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons).
And while playing in the Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) is one of the main drivers for the side, it’s also their mission to inspire the community around them on and off the pitch. That’s why Southampton FC Women teamed up with their principal sponsor, Starling, to launch a new grassroots coaching initiative, helping more women and girls get into football coaching.
Who we are
Marieanne Spacey-Cale is one of the biggest names in women’s coaching and has led the side since 2018 as Head of Women and Girl’s Football. She leads a dynamic team who are creating their own legacies within Women's football.
With 91 England caps, and one of Arsenal Women’s trailblazing players, her experience in the professional game is inspiring. Find out more about our talented squad here.
How and where to watch us
Up until this season, Saints played home matches at Snows Stadium, AFC Totton. However, moving into the Championship, St Mary’s Stadium became the home of the side, reflecting the excitement and increased demand from fans wanting to be part of the women’s game.
