FULL-TIME: United 2-2 Saints
It finishes all square at Old Trafford. Michael Obafemi rescues a point for Ralph Hasenhüttl's side at the death, meeting Jan Bednarek's flick-on and bundling the ball over the line.
STOPPAGE TIME EQUALISER!
It's no less than Saints deserve, as Obafemi turns home at the back post from a Ward-Prowse corner. Bednarek flicked the ball on and the substitute was alive to it, smashing into the net from close range.
GOOOAL!!!
Michael Obafemi (+6’) | 2 – 2
Clash of heads
Brandon Williams heads the back of Kyle Walker-Peters and has a gash on his forehead. The Saints full-back is also still down.
Redmond forces superb save
The winger steps over the ball and forces his way into the box, cutting inside Matić. He fires at de Gea but the United stopper is equal to it. The Spaniard is at full stretch, but gets fingertips to it.
Bright spell
Saints searching for an equaliser here, keeping the ball smartly, trying to work an opening. Redmond's pass is eventually loose and cut out by Lindelõf.
Long heads at de Gea
It was a rare sight of goal for the frontman, who came on for Adams ten minutes ago. The cross didn't have too much pace on it, so was hard to direct goalward.
FINAL 🔟
Saints pressing and probing. Walker-Peters starting to find some joy down the right, in the absence of Shaw, who was forced off. But Martial is determined to give United a bigger margin, as he picks the ball off Stephens but the shot is wayward.
Quick break
Lovely counter-attack, substitute Smallbone involved. Ings was at the centre of it and the visitors win a corner. Attacked by a host of bodies but nothing doing for Saints.
Shaw down
He looked to have rolled his ankle as he went to cross the ball. Physio is on the field of play. United corner taken as play restarts, which McCarthy punches well clear.
Rashford chance
He began and ended the chance, linking well with strike partner Martial. Bertrand is alive at the near post and clears for a corner - Maguire then gets an opportunity but can't quite connect.
Ward-Prowse free-kick recycled
He played it square to Bertrand, who launched deep. It was collected by Stephens and reworked to Armstrong but Saints lose out. They're having the better share of the possession now.
Adams and Ings on heels
A smart move from Saints releases Walker-Peters down the right, and he fizzes a ball across the face of goal. There's a host of yellow shirts in the box, but no-one willing to throw a leg at it.
Free-flowing United
Greenwood and Fernandes both involved in the build-up, as United break down the right. Attempted cross is blocked well, and Saints regain possession.
Yellow Card for Kyle Walker-Peters (Southampton)
For a hand ball offence.
Rashford from distance
He ignores the run of Martial and takes the shot on from range, it's dipping fiercely but hits only the side-netting.
Penalty shout on Armstrong
Maguire rather heavy handed with the Scot, but referee uninterested. United go straight up the other end, with Rashford in ascendance but he's marshalled well by Bednarek. United corner comes to nothing.
Redmond off target
A presentable opportunity for Saints, as Redmond drifts inside and uses the decoy run of Adams to create a yard of space. He lashed at the shot, and it flew a yard wide of the mark.
United get us under way
The Reds take kick-off and we're back up and running.
HALF-TIME: United 2-1 Saints
An energetic first 45 minutes comes to a close. Encouraging signs for Saints, with chances aplenty. United also looking dangerous in the final third, scoring twice in three first-half minutes.
Redmond links with Adams
It's cut out by Lindlõf, but Saints nearly carving an opening there. Strong finish to the half from the away side.
Walker-Peters wins corner
Nice flowing move from Saints, wins a corner down the right. Swung in by captain Ward-Prowse and attacked by Danny Ings at the near post, but he's beaten to it by Martial.
Yellow Card for James Ward-Prowse (Southampton)
For a foul on Fernandes.
Evenly poised
United shading the scoreline, but it's an evenly contested game here at Old Trafford. Both teams committing plenty in attack!
Finding calm
After a frantic few minutes, Saints have settled again. It was a blistering start, which seemed to tail off mid-half, but finding some more of the ball again now, as Adams works his way into the box but the cross has no takers.
Martial strikes wide
He was off balance, teed up well by a neat Pogba flick, but he blasts high and wide. United showing plenty of attacking intent.
Pogba effort rebuffed
The midfielder tries his luck, striking the ball centrally from distance, but McCarthy pushes to safety. United looking dangerous coming forward.
Devastating from Martial
Martial glides inside and smashes emphatically past McCarthy - it's the Frenchman's 50th Premier League strike.
GOAL
Anthony Martial (23’) | 2 – 1

THE LEVELLER
It's a fairly open affair, and United have drawn themselves level thanks to Marcus Rashford. Martial flicked the ball towards his partner, left of centre, and Rashford shot across goal to find the far corner.
GOAL
Marcus Rashford (20’) | 1 – 1

📸
Saints on top.
Saints sending warning signs
The visitors pick the pocket of Pogba in midfield once more, who was at fault for the opener, as Adams tries to release Ings but it just runs long.
Rashford goal ruled out
Luke Shaw works the ball well down the left, and squares towards Rashford who finishes first time. But the United striker is a yard offside.
Saints STUN United
The perfect start from Saints! They look sharp, content in and out of possession. Bar the Ward-Prowse mistake, a very bright opening from Ralph Hasenhüttl's side.
THE OPENER
That is a superb goal from Armstrong, who had already tested de Gea. This time he takes down a chipped cross from Nathan Redmond and smashes beyond the United keeper. Advantage Saints.
GOOOAL!!!
Stuart Armstrong (12’) | 0 – 1
Armstrong shoots
Lovely control from the Scot to engineer some space, takes the shot on with his left. Comfortable save from de Gea, but an effort on target nonetheless.
SUPERB SAVE MACCA 👏
Lack of concentration from Ward-Prowse gifts the ball to Martial in a vulnerable position, as the Frenchman bares down on McCarthy's goal. The Saints stopper stays tall though and denies Martial with a strong hand.
Reverse finds Bertand
Saints sneak behind the United backline temporarily, but Bertrand's cross is smothered by de Gea. The visitors pressing superbly in these opening stages.
Saints initiate the press
Hunting in packs once again yields a throw deep in United's half, but Romeu goes in a little strong on Fernandes. Positive start though, as the visitors try to restrict the playing space of their hosts.
Walker-Peters on the move
Romeu attempts to find the full-back down the right, with Luke Shaw left on his heels, but the pass is slightly over hit. Superb endeavour from the Spurs loanee.
United on winning streak
The hosts have won their previous three Premier League ties by a three-goal margin - the first team in top-flight history to do so.
