What an afternoon at St Mary's. James Ward-Prowse fired Saints ahead after just 25 minutes with a sublime strike but the joy was short lived as Mohammed Salisu was shown a second yellow card for a challenge in the penalty area. With Kane netting the resulting penalty, it was a tense second half as Saints put on a resolute defensive display to ensure the scores were tied at the final whistle.

Nail-biting moments at St Mary's as Bryan launches a shot towards goal, Forster gets a fingertip on it and pushes the ball behind for a Spurs corner.
Broja comes close
Broja finds space on the counter-attack and comes so close to securing the winner for Saints. His strike is deflected behind by Sanchez for a Saints corner.

Moura is the next Spurs player to attempt to find the back of the net, it's a strong strike but Forster gets his body behind it to punch the ball clear.

Absolutely superb defending from Saints who deny Spurs twice. Davies fires in a powerful strike but Walker-Peters gets his head ot it to deflect it back. He's grounded by the incident, but is back up and running shortly after.

Ex-Saint Hojbjerg produces a lovely move to release Kane inside the box, Kane sets his sights on goal but Forster gets his gloves to it to clear the threat. Shortly after, the flag goes up for offside.

Bryan crosses the ball into Son who is waiting patiently in the box, he gets a head to it but it's a comfortable save for Forster.

Winks launches in a high ball and it looks as though Forster is going to get to it but Doherty collides into him. The ball spills into the back of his own net but thankfully for Saints, they're awarded a free kick for the collision.

A fantastic run from Son sees him in control of the ball from 25 yards out. He's got Reguilon and Kane with him but decides to go it alone and his shot goes straight into the hands of Forster.
Saints dominant
Still prominent down the left flank, Perraud wins Saints their first corner of the game. A strong delivery from Ward-Prowse but it's a packed six-yard area and the Spurs defence get it clear. Can Saints get a second?

A superb strike from Saints' captain as Hasenhüttl's side find themselves with the advantage after 25 minutes of play at St Mary's. Salisu launches the long throw in from the sidelines before Spurs attempt to clear the ball but it only goes as far as Ward-Prowse. Cutting the ball across with his right foot, his shot curls into the back of the net and away from Lloris.

Bright start from Saints
It's a different formation for Hasenhüttl's side at St Mary's and the early signs are positive. Spurs are struggling to leave their own half in the opening stages here as Saints look the more likely of the two sides to score.
Davies caught offside
Spurs have the ball in the back of the net but the offside flag is raised instantly to deny them the advantage. It's Son's free kick that finds the head of Davies who thumps the ball past Forster but Saints escape for now.

First real chance on goal falls Saints' way as Walker-Peters launches in a lovely ball from the right and finds the head of Long. His shot bounces wide of the goal, but the offside flag is up anyway.
