Adam: Ajax Will See Different Saints

By SFC Media time Fri 27 Jul Club

Adam Lallana says the Saints side Ajax face tomorrow is a world away from the one they came up against three years ago.

The Dutch giants visited St Mary's in July 2009 to contest the Ted Bates Trophy in the first match following the takeover of the Club by Markus Liebherr and Nicola Cortese.

The Amsterdam-based outfit ran out 4-1 winners over a Saints side that included only three players who remain at the Club in Lallana, Kelvin Davis and Morgan Schneiderlin.

"We are looking forward to the game tomorrow," Adam told Saints Player this morning.

"It (the previous game) seems like a very long time ago - I think we lost 4-1, and I remember Luis Suarez playing for Ajax.

"They were a great team - and they still are now - but I think we are a few levels above where we were because we were in League 1 then.

"Things speak for themselves: we are in a completely different position now to where we were then in terms of our finances, our squad and the size of the Club.

"Hopefully we'll give them a good game tomorrow," continued the 24-year-old.

"It'll be a good test for us, and something we're looking forward to.

"We're going into the biggest league in the world so we want to be playing against these teams and players who can cause us problems."
