Saints are pleased to announce that they have today agreed a compensation fee with Crystal Palace over the signing of defender Nathaniel Clyne.
The 21-year-old signed a four-year deal with the Club last Thursday having been free to find a new team after coming to the end of his contract at Selhurst Park.
However, due to Clyne's age, Saints were required to pay a transfer fee to his former side by way of compensation.
The two clubs have remained in discussion over the level of such compensation since the England Under 21 right-back pledged his future to his new team.
Saints can this afternoon confirm that an agreement with which the Club is very happy has now been reached.
Nathaniel made his first appearance in a Saints shirt last weekend when he came on as a second-half substitute in the 1-0 win over Évian Thonon Gaillard.
And First Team Manager Nigel Adkins yesterday suggested that the full-back could well be involved in tomorrow's home friendly against Dutch champions Ajax.
"He has done very well," the gaffer said of Clyne's first week as a Saints player.
"He only had one training session before he joined us so we're upping the game with him in a way that will make sure he doesn't break down."
