Liverpudlian striker Rickie Lambert admits this weekend’s match at Everton will be a momentous occasion for him.
The frontman grew up as a fan of the Toffees’ Merseyside rivals Liverpool, though will still try to treat the contest as a normal league encounter.
“It’s just another one,” he attempted to play down after last weekend’s win over Aston Villa.
“But it’s another one that all the lads are buzzing for, and for me as a scouser it’s definitely one I’ve been looking forward to.”
David Moyes’s men are currently riding high in the Barclays Premier League, but Lambert sees no reason why Saints can’t challenge Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
“They’re flying at the minute,” Rickie acknowledged, “but even when they’re not flying it’s a hard place to go so we know we’ve got a hard game on our hands.
“Hopefully the Villa win is going to give us the confidence to go there and get something.”
