Fan Rewarded For Incredible Goal

By SFC Media time Tue 12 Feb Club

A Southampton supporter who scored a 40-yard wonder goal during Saturday’s half-time interval is to be rewarded.

Billy Tomkins took part in our traditional Half Time Relay Race after being chosen by club sponsor aap3.

The 15 year-old from New Milton attempted an audacious long-range strike towards the Northam Stand, in a desperate attempt to win the relay race for his team.

It was initially thought that the goal had come too late, and his efforts had been in vain. The prize, £100 worth of Saints Megastore vouchers donated by aap3, was awarded to his opponent, Callum Crotty from Hedge End.

However television replays (see below) showed Billy’s shot crossed the line first.

The club and aap3 have decided to reward both contestants, who will be given £100 worth of vouchers each to spend in the Saints Megastore.

Billy will also be presented with a shirt signed by Rickie Lambert, who would have been proud of the youngsters’ long-range effort!

The aap3 Half Time Relay Race takes place at every Saints home game, with the final two contestants chosen by our club sponsor via twitter.

All the best action from our relay races can be seen on our Official YouTube Channel.
