Let's Keep The Run Going - Gaffer

Mauricio Pochettino is targeting maximum points from his side's last four Premier League fixtures.

With Saints now moving towards the end of the season, the manager is keen for his side to finish the campaign on a high note.

That starts with this weekend's game against eighth-placed West Bromwich Albion, with Pochettino still keen for his side to break into the top half.

"It's really important for us to finish the season well," Mauricio told the media in his pre-match press conference.

"We have to get the maximum number of points from the games we have left, starting on Saturday.

"We know the game against West Bromwich Albion is going to be a tough one because they are a good side, but we're on a good run.

"Every game in the Premier League is a tough one. All of our rivals are difficult to play against, so we just need to focus on getting a good result on Saturday to maintain our run.

"This game is vital but, at the same time, all games are vital because a win will take you up positions in the table.

"We have four games left and we want to get the maximum number of points from them all. If we do that then we'll all be happy because we'll have risen the table."

Reports this week have suggested that Pochettino has already begun to plan how his squad for next season will shape up.

And, while the manager denied any suggestion that he has decided on who will be leaving the club, he admitted he is naturally keen on strengthening his squad.

"I think there's already a good quality of footballers in my squad, but we're open as a club to trying to reinforcing the positions that we think we need to improve," he said.

"If we have the chance to improve in those areas then of course we will go for those players. I am sure that my squad and the club itself would welcome new signings, so we'll try to do that."

In terms of team news for the weekend, Pochettino revealed that James Ward-Prowse is likely to miss out having picked up an injury while playing for the Development Squad at West Brom last Sunday.

Morgan Schneiderlin was prevented from training earlier in the week due to knock of his own, but the Frenchman should be fine to face the Baggies on Saturday.

"Prowsey has a little problem from playing for the Under-21s so he hasn't been able to train this week," confirmed the gaffer. "Hopefully he'll rejoin the squad on Monday.

"Morgan had a problem at the start of the week, but he's OK now. The rest of the team has been training normally."
