James Ward-Prowse has picked up the LFE Apprentice of the Month award for the month of March.
James has enjoyed a fine 12 months with the Club both on and off the pitch, excelling as a young professional whilst maintaining a high standard in his academic studies.
He has made over a dozen first-team appearances for Saints in the Barclays Premier League, which led to an England Under-19 call up and he has gone on to captain his national side at that level.
On top of that, Ward-Prowse has put in extra hours on his education to catch up due to first-team commitments. Not only has he achieved highly in his BTEC but James has completed his NVQ to a high standard and proved to be a competent coach too.
It is a testament to the 18-year-old's hard-working and mature approach to his all-round education at Southampton, making him a shining example for others in the Academy to follow.
James and teammate Luke Shaw epitomise the characteristics of the core players being developed at the Saints Academy, and it is no surprise that Ward-Prowse has followed Luke in landing the LFE Apprentice of the Month accolade, with the latter having picked up the prize in November.
Ward-Prowse made his full league debut at Manchester City in the opening game of the Premier League season and has not looked out of place in any competitive fixture this season as he continues to learn his trade.
Both he and Shaw have pledged their long-term futures to the Club as they seek to pay back the faith shown in them having been handed the opportunity to show what they could do in the Premier League.
"James is the ultimate role model for any young aspiring Academy player," said Academy Manager Matt Crocker.
"He has worked extremely hard to get his opportunity in the First Team and to be playing regularly in the Premier League as an 18-year-old is credit to his endeavour and application."
