Dani Osvaldo dedicated his first goal for Southampton to the supporters that have welcomed him into English football.
The Italian grabbed his maiden strike for Saints by opening the scoring in the 47th minute of Saturday’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at St Mary’s and, after the game, he described to saintsfc.co.uk how much it meant to him.
“I’m very, very happy,” he said with a smile. “I was waiting for this goal since I started to play. I’m doubly happy because we also got the victory.”
Dani scored his goal in front of the Chapel Stand in the 47th minute with a low shot past Julian Speroni
Osvaldo added that it was particularly pleasing to open his goal scoring account at St Mary’s.
“I was happy with this and, as I have said before, I will be doing everything to score to help us in our next matches,” he stressed.
The striker also voiced his appreciation for the support he has received from the Southampton faithful since joining the club in August.
“Not only for the goal but ever since I arrived here, the fans have been fantastic with me,” he highlighted.
“They show me every time their love for me and I wanted to start paying back with goals if possible but, if not, then with attitude on the pitch.”
