England U19 duty for Calum & Matt

By SFC Media time Thu 31 Oct FDSC

Calum Chambers and Matt Targett have been named in the England Under-19 squad for an upcoming friendly in Hungary.

The Saints pair are in Noel Blake’s 18-man squad for the match, which will be held at an as-yet undetermined venue on Thursday 14th November.

The fixture will prepare the Young Lions for the 2014 European Under-19 Championship Elite Round qualifiers, which take place next spring.

Chambers is the current captain of the Under-19s, with 12 caps to his name since making his debut last September.

This is Targett’s second England call-up, though he is yet to win a cap having pulled out of the last squad due to an ankle injury.

The left-back was named in the group for last month’s qualifiers in Slovenia, but is still looking for his debut.

Targett previously represented Scotland at under-19 level but has now chosen to switch allegiance to his birth country.

The two 18-year-olds will link up with England next weekend following the First Team’s Barclays Premier League match against Hull City.
