Mauricio Pochettino addressed the media on Thursday ahead of Saturday's Barclays Premier League welcoming of Newcastle United.

On team news…
“Kelvin Davis is definitely out. Nathaniel Clyne is definitely out – he has a problem with his groin. Maya Yoshida is definitely out. Maya has a knee ligament problem and he will be out for six weeks, so pretty much the rest of the season.
“We have doubts over Morgan Scheiderlin – he still has an iliopsoas problem. Victor Wanyama has a problem with his leg. Jay received a knock on his left knee [against Spurs]. Steven Davis has a problem with his groin.”
On finishing the season well…
“It’s clear that right after the Tottenham game we were disappointed. We were two-nil up at Tottenham and that’s not an easy thing to do.
“We were quite sad to see that game go away from us. We gave away that game more than Tottenham won that game.
“I think the mood during this week has improved amongst the squad. There are individual questions that we’ve looked at. The training sessions have been well during this week so we’re arriving with high spirits to this game and we are looking for three points against Newcastle.”
On Yoshida’s injury…
“It is true that he will be out for six or seven weeks but his participation in the World Cup will not be threatened. It will be difficult for him to play in the last six weeks of this season.
“I actually went through a similar situation in a World Cup and I had a similar injury to his but I recovered a month before and was able to take part in the World Cup.
“He has started working already this week so he shouldn’t miss any training sessions and the staff and all of us are going to help him so that he’s back to his best as soon as possible.”
On Luke Shaw…
“He could play in the world’s starting XI. He has the potential to be the best already.
“The fact he was called up by the England national side to be among the senior team is already quite an amazing achievement.
“Of course, he has amazing potential and we look at him with kindness because he is part of this Club and I think he does have the potential.
“Who is better equipped to be the best left-back in the world if not him?”
On Newcastle…
“We are expecting quite a physical side, a very strong side, a tough side. Especially after being defeated at their own ground by Everton they will want to put that right, so overall we know we’re going to be facing quite a phsycial opponent."
