Artur Boruc has been named in Poland’s squad for their Euro 2016 qualifier against Gibraltar next week.
Sunday 7th September’s match – kick-off 7.45pm BST – is the first of Poland’s Group D matches as they look to reach the tournament in France just under two years from now.
Boruc and his compatriots take on Gibraltar at the Estádio Algarve in Portugal before facing Euro 2012 semi-finalists Germany, Republic of Ireland, Georgia and Scotland in the run-up to the competition.
The Saints custodian will be battling with Arsenal ‘keeper Wojciech Szczęsny to don the gloves in their group opener.
Boruc has started Poland’s last two matches, which began with a clean sheet in a goalless draw against Germany in a friendly in May before the 34-year-old helped his country to a 2-1 win over Lithuania the following month.
Poland, who were co-hosts of the last European Championship with Ukraine, will be hoping that if qualification can be secured then they can better their bottom-placed finish with the two points they mustered in 2012.
