Cody Cropper has been included in the United States of America roster for Wednesday’s friendly with the Czech Republic.
The 22-man squad will head to Prague for the match next week, with Aston Villa’s Brad Guzan and Real Salt Lake’s Nick Rimando the other contenders to don the gloves.
It represents a fresh chance for the Saints Under-21 regular custodian to stake a claim after Guzan, Rimando and Tim Howard were the ‘keepers selected for the Americans’ 2014 World Cup campaign, which resulted in a Round of 16 exit at the hands of Belgium.
While he’s never made a senior appearance for his country, Cropper kept goal for USA’s U23s in this month’s 5-1 victory over the Bahamas while on a training camp there.
The 21-year-old, who joined the club from Ipswich Town, signed a new one-year deal at Southampton in July.
