Chris Johns has been plucked for Northern Ireland’s under-21 squad ahead of their upcoming 2015 European U21 Championship qualifier against Serbia.
The Saints Under-21 ‘keeper will meet with the rest of the team as they prepare to take on the Group 9 leaders on Tuesday at Shamrock Park on Tuesday.
Northern Ireland, meanwhile, can’t qualify for next year’s tournament in the Czech Republic due to only having taken three points from seven games – a total that leaves them bottom of the group.
Johns will be hoping to get his chance, having been backup to Conor Brennan throughout the qualifying stages.
The Southampton Academy youngster was pivotal as Northern Ireland U20s were crowned Milk Cup champions earlier this month after victories over China, Mexico and Canada.
