CONNECTIONS: Hull City and Southampton

saintsfc.co.uk takes a look at some of the current connections between Saints at Saturday's Premier League opponents, Hull City.

• Saints’ Steven Davis and Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor played together at Scottish side Rangers between 2008 and 2012. Nikica Jelavić was also part of the Rangers side between 2010 and 2012.

• Striker Shane Long spent the second half of the 2013/14 season at Hull City, signing for them from fellow Premier League side West Bromwich Albion.

• Shane Long played alongside Hull City’s Liam Rosenior for three years at Reading, before Long moved on to West Bromwich Albion.

• Shane Long has also played alongside David Meyler, Paul McShane, Stephen Quinn and Robbie Brady for the Republic of Ireland.

• Hull City defender Paul McShane spent the second half of the 2011/12 season on loan at Crystal Palace, where he played alongside Nathaniel Clyne.

• Saints’ Sadio Mané and Hull City’s Mohamed Diamé both represented Senegal at the 2012 Olympics, while the two are still part of the Senegal national side.

• Goalkeepers Fraser Forster and Steve Harper worked alongside one another at Newcastle United between 2006 and 2012.

• Saints’ Gastón Ramírez is currently on loan at Hull City for the 2014/15 campaign.

• Hull City’s Harry Maguire has made one appearance for England’s Under-21 side. In that game, Saints’ Nathaniel Clyne also came on as a substitute.

• Saints defender Ryan Bertrand and Hull City midfielder Jake Livermore both made their England senior debuts in a 2-1 friendly win against Italy in 2012.
