• Saints goalkeeper Kelvin Davis played for Ipswich Town between 2003 and 2005, before moving on to Sunderland.

• Ipswich goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski spent six years at St Mary’s before leaving for Notts County in 2012.

• Ipswich’s David McGoldrick spent five years at Southampton between 2004 and 2009, taking in loan spells at Notts County, Bournemouth and Port Vale before leaving for Nottingham Forest.

• Tyrone Mings came through the Southampton Academy as a youngster, playing alongside Saints’ Lloyd Isgrove.

• Ipswich Town’s Darren Ambrose spent three years playing alongside Saints right-back Nathaniel Clyne at Crystal Palace, and a single season with José Fonte.

• Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy managed Saints goalkeeper Kelvin Davis during his season at Sunderland.

• Saints goalkeeper Fraser Forster played in the same team as Ipswich Town’s Daryl Murphy at Scottish club Celtic.

• Saints striker Shane Long has played alongside Ipswich Town’s Stephen Hunt, Noel Hunt and Connor Sammon for the Republic of Ireland.

• Shane Long was in the same Reading team as Ipswich Town’s Noel Hunt and Jay Tabb.

• Ryan Bertrand, during his loan spell with Reading during the 2009/10 season, played alongside Noel Hunt and Jay Tabb.
