Jack Cork has joined Swansea City for an undisclosed fee, Southampton Football Club can confirm.
With his contract due to expire this summer, the midfielder has been allowed to move to south Wales ahead of the transfer window closing next week.
The move ends Cork’s four-year association with Saints. The 25 year-old departs after making 153 appearances for the club across two spells.
Speaking about Cork’s move away, Saints boss Ronald Koeman said: “I said before the club offered him a contract but his feeling was not good to stay more time in the club because he likes to play more games.
“I can’t guarantee players that because we have tough competition between our midfield players. Harry Reed is developing in a very good way; it’s always up to the player.”
Cork initially joined Southampton on loan from Chelsea in the summer of 2008, before returning permanently three years later following the club’s promotion to the Championship.
He played in every league game of his first full season with Saints as the club earned back-to-back promotions, returning to the Premier League after a seven-year absence.
The Londoner featured regularly upon Saints’ return to the top flight, eventually scoring his first competitive goal for the club in a Capital One Cup win over Millwall last August – the first of three he netted in the space of six games.
The midfielder will be unable to feature for his new club against Saints on Sunday at St Mary's.
