Ronald Keoman says Southampton’s 3-0 win against Feyenoord was a good way to end a great week in Holland.
Koeman’s side have picked up wins against FC Gronignen, KVV Quick ’20 and Feyenoord during their time in Holland, as well as working hard on the training pitch ahead of the game against Vitesse next Thursday.
Goals from Graziano Pellè, Maya Yoshida and Juanmi sealed the win at De Kuip, with Koeman happy at the overall performance from his side.
“In general it was a good performance and a good way to end the week,” he told youtube.com/southamptonfc. “It has been a fantastic week.
“The lads showed again a great spirit, a great teamwork and I’m happy about this week because we make more steps to be close to physically 100 per cent. Next week we have to start in a serious way.
“After the 2-0 we had total control, maybe some good shots of Feyenoord but they didn’t create any chances. We controlled the game.
“Maybe we were a little bit too sloppy in some moments. The clean sheet was important too, because they make points and wins in games. That’s one of the qualities of our team and I’m happy about the defensive performance.”
Koeman says it was great to be back at De Kuip, but praised the Southampton supporters who made the trip to Holland.
“It was a great feeling to be back. I like the people and they like me,” he added. “We had a great support from Southampton also. In a friendly, to see the support is amazing.
“The atmosphere was very friendly. Normally it’s more difficult but we had some players from Feyenoord and the people here like Southampton. We enjoyed it.
“It was great to see Jordy get that reception. It’s always emotional. He was seven or eight when he started. It’s a long time and he had some great years.”
