James Ward-Prowse is hoping Southampton can replicate the sort of performance they produced in the 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge this season when they host Chelsea on Saturday.
Ronald Koeman’s side welcome the Blues to St Mary’s, as they bid to do the double over them and extend the gap that exists between the teams to ten points.
Saints triumphed when the teams met earlier in the campaign, coming from a goal down to shock the defending Premier League champions on their own soil, and Ward-Prowse wants to see a similar display this time around.
"I think it's nice to have the memory, but it's a totally different game, totally different standings now and it's up to us to obviously try and replicate what we did,” Ward-Prowse, who made his 100th Saints appearance that day, told Southampton’s official YouTube channel.
“It was a great day. The fans really did get behind us that day and gave us that support, especially late on in the game, to go on and score the goals, and if we can perform like that there's no reason why we can't go on and get another win.”
Saints are currently unbeaten in six, without having conceded in that run, and Ward-Prowse added: “We're full of confidence at the minute.
“We've had six good results and we've been solid defensively. Chelsea, no matter where they are in the league, have got quality players, but we're very confident that we can shut them out and continue our goalscoring form.
“They've shown glimpses this season of why they are champions and it's up to us to obviously put a stop to that and make sure they don't carry on their form, and we can carry on ours.”
