Wanyama: Kenya qualifiers are massive

Victor Wanyama says he faces two must-win games for Kenya during the international break, as his country look to qualify for their first Africa Cup of Nations finals since 2004.

The Saints midfielder faces a pair of games against Guinea-Bissau, declaring the double-header as “massive” in Kenya’s bid to reach the 2017 tournament.

The Harambee Stars will face their opponents away from home tomorrow, before taking them on in Nairobi in another Group E qualification fixture on Sunday.

"I think it's massive for us,” Wanyama told Southampton’s official YouTube channel. “We have two games and they're must win, so hopefully we can get something to keep us on to qualify.

"I'm always proud going to play for my country and I always want to do well for my country, so hopefully we will get the results that we want.”

Wanyama added that he will head off on international duty in great spirits, after returning to the Southampton team from a five-match ban in Sunday’s incredible 3-2 win over Liverpool.

"It does send me away with a great feeling and hopefully we will keep on enjoying the results,” he said.
