Isgrove an unused substitute in Ukraine defeat

By SFC Media time Mon 28 Mar Club

Winger Lloyd Isgrove watched on from the substitutes’ bench as Wales lost 1-0 in Kiev on Monday evening.

After earning his first senior cap in last week’s 1-1 draw with Northern Ireland, Isgrove, currently on loan at League 1 side Barnsley, was part of Chris Coleman’s 24 man matchday squad at the Olimpiyskiy stadium.

However, it was disappointment for the Welsh who conceded the only goal of the game in the 28th minute when Andriy Yarmolenko volleyed past Crystal Palace ‘keeper Wayne Hennessey.

The defeat extends Wales’ winless run away from home in friendlies having not won since beating Denmark in November 2008.

This was their penultimate friendly before Euro 2016 with boss Coleman set to decide his final squad for the Championships before their final warm-up game against Sweden in early June.
