Pellè an unused substitute in Germany defeat

By SFC Media time Tue 29 Mar Club

Saints striker Graziano Pellè watched on as Italy were beaten 4-1 by Germany in Munich on Tuesday evening.

Pellè was not called upon by boss Antonio Conte whose side trailed 2-0 at half-time to goals from Toni Kroos and Mario Götze.

It got worse for the Italians in the second 45 as they went 4-0 down, with Jonas Hector on target and Mesut Özil adding a 75th minute penalty.

Conte brought on Stefano Okaka and Stephan El Shaarawy midway through the half and the duo combined for the latter to pull a goal back with seven minutes remaining.

As a result, Pellè who had played an hour in the Italians’ 1-1 draw with Spain last week, saw his side go a fourth international game without a win, a run they’ll look to halt when they entertain Scotland at the end of May.
