Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has picked out the thrilling 3-2 win against Liverpool at St Mary’s as his highlight of the 2015/16 campaign.
The Saints boss sat down to answer questions from fans at the end of the season, and picked his side’s comeback win against the Reds as the best moment of another record-breaking campaign.
Koeman’s men were two goals behind at the break against Jürgen Klopp’s side, but responded magnificently in the second half thanks to a double from Sadio Mané and one from Graziano Pellè to seal the win.
Recalling the game, Koeman told youtube.com/southamptonfc: “My personal highlight is difficult because we had many great moments this season.
“But maybe the best and the highlight of the season for me was the 3-2 win against Liverpool.
“You won’t see me running out of the pitch to celebrate a goal of Southampton all the time!
“That means it’s special. We were two-nil down at half time and then to come back and win the game was an amazing feeling.
“It’s in my opinion the highlight of the season.”
And over the course of his two campaigns in charge of Saints so far? “Maybe it was the first time that we won in my first season at Manchester United,” Koeman added.
“It was a big week. We beat Ipswich in the FA Cup replay, Newcastle and Manchester United.
“But the feeling to win against Manchester United in that fantastic stadium Old Trafford was maybe the best feeling in the season seasons.
“It’s difficult though, because we had many of them.”
