Puel: EURO 2016 players could feature at Groningen

By SFC Media time Fri 29 Jul Club

Claude Puel expects Fraser Forster, Ryan Bertrand, Steven Davis and Shane Long to be involved when Saints face Groningen in the final match of their pre-season tour to Holland.

All four have been on the trip to the Netherlands, but did not feature in the wins over PEC Zwolle and FC Twente.

Their later return to pre-season, because of their involvement at EURO 2016, means they have been building up their fitness and conditioning, and Puel believes they are now ready to start playing, ahead of Saturday's friendly against Groningen.

"It's important to see these international players," he told Southampton's official YouTube channel.

"I hope they are alright for Saturday. It's important also to see all the players, including the international players of course. I think they can play 45 minutes.

"It will be interesting, and when we come back to Southampton we can find in the training sessions [José] Fonte and [Cédric] Soares and all the squad and the team."
