Oriol Romeu says Southampton’s preparations under new manager Claude Puel are going well.
Saints have won all four of their pre-season friendlies so far, with two left to come at St Mary’s as they complete their preparations for the new season.
Midfielder Romeu believes that while it takes time to adapt to a new manager’s style of play, Saints are progressing well ahead of the new campaign.
“We are starting to get everything in. It takes time because things are changing a little bit,” Romeu told saintsfc.co.uk.
“I feel the mentality he wants to push into the team is the right one. We want to get everything ready as quickly as possible.
“We are feeling comfortable at the moment and we have good quality players who are learning.
“Hopefully we can develop as a team and get better and better for the season.”
Romeu was also pleased with Saints’ work during their stay in Holland, with a number of double sessions and three friendlies across the week.
“It was very good. We have had double sessions and it was quite hot too,” he added.
“It has been a positive for us to finish with a win and finish the games in a good way.
“We now have another week to prepare for Watford, who are waiting for us.
“We have to make sure we do the right things and get right to where we want.”
