We’ve picked four nominees for Southampton’s Under Armour of the Month for February – now it’s down to you to decide the winner.
Saints played just three games in February, starting with a disappointing defeat to West Ham United, before a fine victory against Sunderland and then a heart-breaking loss to Manchester United in the EFL Cup final.
The first nominee is a man who scored in all three of those games. Manolo Gabbiadini, who arrived in January, netted on his debut against West Ham United at St Mary’s.
He then scored twice at Sunderland, before netting a brace in the EFL Cup final at Wembley to make it five goals in his first three games for Saints.
One of his goals came from a James Ward-Prowse assist, and the midfielder is the second nominee. Ward-Prowse impressed after being moved to a wide-right position for the games against Sunderland and Manchester United.
The England Under-21 international set up Shane Long in the win at Sunderland, before teeing up Gabbiadini for his first goal at Wembley.
Joining Gabbiadini and Ward-Prowse are defenders Ryan Bertrand and Maya Yoshida.
Bertrand was excellent against Sunderland, assisting Gabbiadini’s first goal and also seeing his cross turned into his own net by Sunderland’s Jason Denayer.
The left-back was also in fine form against Manchester United, defending well and providing a constant threat down the left-hand side.
Fellow defender Yoshida was also at his very best in the win against Sunderland and against Manchester United in the EFL Cup final, making several crucial interceptions and tackles.
