Southampton Under-23s are determined to pick up a vital win against Manchester City on Friday, according to Josh Sims.
Victory over City in the final game of the season would ensure Saints maintain their Premier League 2 status, and Sims is keen to see that happen.
“It’s a massive game for us,” explained the 20-year-old.
“We all know what we have to do and I think we are capable of winning – we have to. We’ve had some good sessions and will go into it full of confidence.
“It will be a tough game but I am sure that everyone is up for it and ready. We have to do what we have to do and then not worry about other results.”
Saints head to Manchester off the back of a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Derby County in their most recent league encounter.
Though Sims is confident they will be able to pick up three points against the Citizens.
“We’ve played well in the past few games,” he continued.
“It has just been disappointing how we have finished them - we just haven’t been able to finish it off and that’s what we need to work on.
“Martin [Hunter] has stressed the importance of this game to us and we are all completely focussed now on going there and getting a result.”
