Claude Puel has explained that there are no fresh injury concerns ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Though he did reveal that Charlie Austin and Matt Targett will play a part in Southampton Under-23s' game against Manchester City this evening.

“It is the Under-23s last game of the season and Charlie Austin will play his first game against Manchester City today,” explained Puel.

“Matt Targett will also play as will Jérémy Pied, Harrison Reed, Sam McQueen, Florin Gardos and Mouez Hassen.

“Many players will play and hopefully it will help some of them to improve their physical fitness. I hope we can see them until the end of the season.”

Before sustaining his injury against Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Austin had nine goals to his name for the season.

And whilst Puel is looking forward to welcoming the striker back into the first team set-up, he wasn't willing to put an exact date on his return.

“I don’t know,” he continued.

“It’s difficult to know this because it is important to se him on this level and the possibility to make a good game and training session.

“We will see for the next games and days, but at the moment we have many players in attack and it is important to see the level of everyone.”
