Southampton youngster Jake Vokins and England Under-17s were beaten by Spain on penalties in the final of the Under-17 European Championships.
Vokins, who came on as a second-half substitute, and the Three Lions were beaten in the cruellest way in Croatia, having taken the lead on 18 minutes through Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Spain then fought back to level on 33 minutes before England restored their lead in the second half through Phil Foden's low left-footed drive.
It wasn't until six minutes into added time that Nacho Diaz headed in José Alonso's late corner to bring Spain level and force penalties.
Aidan Barlow was first up for England and the Man United man converted, before Rhian Brewster and Joel Latibeaudiere missed. Spain then netted all four of their spot-kicks to ensure they were crowned European Champions.
