Boufal set for Morocco action

By SFC Media time Wed 31 May International

Sofiane Boufal is tonight set to kick off a busy couple of weeks of international action for Southampton’s first-team stars, as Morocco host Netherlands in a friendly.

The Atlas Lions are hosting the Dutch, in Agadir, at 6.30pm BST, with the match allowing Boufal and his colleagues a chance to sharpen up ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to Cameroon on Thursday 8th June.

There will be no Saints interest on the opposite side, with Virgil van Dijk not available for selection due to his recovery from injury, while Jordy Clasie missed out on the latest squad.

The subsequent clash with Cameroon will be Morocco’s opening game of qualification, with Malawi and Comoros also in their group.

Cameroon are the hosts of the 2019 tournament and will qualify regardless of their position in the group, with the other best-placed team joining them.
