Mauricio Pellegrino wants to see his side continue to improve when Southampton travel to Stoke City next weekend.
Saints outplayed Manchester United in a dominant second half at St Mary’s yesterday.
Ultimately it wasn’t enough, as Romelu Lukaku’s first-half goal earned the visitors victory, but Pellegrino saw progress in the performance.
“I was talking with my team and I say that this is the way we have to keep going,” he said.
“We can have a clear conscience because we did everything.
“Our conclusion is that we have to continue in this way – with this spirit and staying humble.
“At the same time we have to improve something every single week, and we have another test next week.”
