Southampton Under-23s keeper Jack Rose has put the side's strong form down to their work on the training pitch under coach Radhi Jaïdi, as they prepare for tonight's Premier League Cup visit to Blackburn.

Both sides have already qualified for the last 16 of the competition, but Saints will be looking to earn the win that would see them leapfrog Rovers and win their group.

Jaïdi's side will certainly head to the north-west with plenty of confidence, having won four of their last five matches, including a 5-1 thrashing of Newcastle last time out.

"I think we've been training really well recently," said Rose. "Radhi's got the lads going and we're just training with better intensity and we've got that bit of momentum that we're doing really well with.

"We've had a chat together, and we think we can go far in the cup. We're looking at winning it – that's the ultimate aim."

Saints' recent form has also been helped by strong performances in goal from both Rose and Kingsley Latham, with the former explaining how the pair help keep each other's standards high.

"We get on really well off the pitch, and it's good competition in training," he said. "It's going really well for us.

"We both give each other pointers, we both know what we need to work on and that's what we focus on in training."
