Matt Targett’s unbeaten start to his Fulham career continued with the most eye-catching result to date – a 2-0 victory over runaway Championship leaders Wolves on Saturday.

The defender played the full 90 minutes as goals from Ryan Sessegnon and Aleksandar Mitrović consigned Wolves to just a fifth league defeat of the season.

It means Targett has finished on the winning side in four of his six appearances since joining the Cottagers on loan, drawing the other two.

The west London club now have a seven-point cushion in the play-off places and moved to within a single point of fourth-placed Derby.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Harrison Reed’s Norwich were held to a fourth successive draw, this time by relegation-threatened Bolton at Carrow Road.

Bolton’s fellow strugglers Birmingham slipped back into the bottom three with defeat at home to Barnsley, who leapfrogged Blues with a first win under new boss José Morais.

Oliver McBurnie’s first-half double did the damage, as Saints’ on-loan striker Sam Gallagher was powerless to prevent a fourth straight defeat.

Jordy Clasie's Club Brugge have a commanding lead in the Belgian Pro League

In Belgium, Jordy Clasie helped Club Brugge maintain their 11-point lead at the top of the Pro League, despite being held to a fourth draw in a row, this time 1-1 at Standard Liège.

Meanwhile, Ryan Seager made his second start for Yeovil but suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Carlisle, whose long journey to the west country proved worthwhile thanks to Hallam Hope’s second-half winner.

Goalkeeper Harry Lewis remains on course to finish in the Scottish Championship play-off places despite suffering a last-gasp defeat at second-placed Livingston, while defender Ollie Cook completed 90 minutes for Barrow, who remain outside the National League drop zone after a 1-1 draw with Gateshead.
