Dušan Tadić feels Southampton can head into the rest of the season with confidence after their 2-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth.
Tadić netted twice at St Mary’s to ramp up the pressure on those above with three games to play, starting with two away trips, to Everton and Swansea respectively.
“It’s a very strange season because a lot of times we’ve played great and been better than our opponents but not got the benefits," he said.
“It was very frustrating for every one of us, but against Bournemouth we got everything, three points and a good performance.
“This will give us a lot of confidence and trust in each other. When Mark Hughes and his assistants came they have given us extra energy, great work on the training pitch. We are feeling sharper and you can see that.
“We didn’t get enough points that we deserved, and the team lost a little bit of confidence, but this will give us that. We need to keep going.”
