Under-23s coach Radhi Jaïdi was pleased with a polished performance from his youngsters after they swept aside Sunderland in Premier League 2.
The win comes a week after Saints were victorious over Wolves, and back-to-back successes means they're now within two points of the league leaders.
Having climbed to fourth in the table, Jaïdi believes today's result was a big step towards realising this season's overall aim of promotion to the top tier.
"Really pleased with the three points firstly," Jaïdi began. "The boys started well, on the front foot.
"They turned the opposition and got an early goal. That gave us a big boost of confidence.
"We kept the opposition under pressure throughout. There's a lot of good stuff to take from today.
"Both goals were well timed, one in each half. We controlled the game and created plenty of opportunities, which I'm happy with.
"I'd still like us to be scoring more goals, to be more clinical and more decisive.
"A good clean sheet as well. The whole team worked hard for that.
"Our aim is to go as high as possible in the table and the points today will help us to achieve that."
