Saints Foundation and The Big Issue launch The Big Sleep Out

By SFC Media time Wed 31 Oct Saints Foundation

On Friday 30th November 2018, we will be hosting our inaugural Big Sleep Out with our partners, The Big Issue.

The event will be held at St Mary’s Stadium, with fans getting the chance to sleep in the Itchen stand and concourse.

The fundraising target is £200 per person, and the funds raised will be split 50/50 between the worthwhile causes of The Big Issue Foundation and Saints Foundation.

This event is the latest development in an already successful partnership between the two organisations.

Partnering up in August 2017, Southampton Football Club and The Big Issue have joined forces to provide employment opportunities for Big Issue vendors in the local community, as well as other participants from Saints Foundation’s programmes who have faced some of life’s biggest challenges, including homelessness, drug and alcohol misuse and mental health issues.

On the night you can expect to hear from some of those who have experienced the harsh reality of living on the streets, including those who undertook the Saints Foundation & Big Issue employability programme and how their lives have changed.

There will also be entertainment, activities and challenges to take part in, but from 11.30pm it’s lights out, as we experience what it’s really like for those sleeping on the streets.

For more information on the Big Sleep Out, visit The Big Issue’s FAQ section or our Fundraising Officer, Amy Bennett.

This event will sell out in advance, so please do register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
