Technical Director Martin Hunter, who oversees Southampton's Professional Development Phase, has been especially pleased with the progress of the club's Under-23s this term.
The youngsters sit fourth in Premier League 2, two points behind leaders Wolves, but also have a good stake in four additional cup competitions, with the chance to progress in all.
Hunter has been impressed with the application of the squad since pre-season, but also praised the impact of coaching pairing Radhi Jaïdi and Craig Fleming, who are continuing to nurture the potential of Saints' next generation.
The Under-23s are back in action this Friday against West Brom (7pm GMT), under the lights at St Mary's, with the chance for fans to come and watch for free!
"They've been a very solid and consistent squad," Hunter began.
"Various competitions have taken place and we've done well in all of them.
"When you look at the strength in depth in the squad, that's particularly pleasing.
"And we still have some of the younger players, who are doing well, training with the first team, which again is encouraging.
"The squad has gelled together from pre-season, and they've worked very hard at improving themselves physically.
"Radhi Jaïdi and Craig Fleming have done a terrific job, and are continuing to do so.
"It's a fantastic opportunity, for young boys to play two games in succession at St Mary's.
"The atmosphere is different, and that's a big part of their development, in terms of pursuing a career in football."
