Ralph Hasenhüttl expects Pierre-Emile Højbjerg being fit to face Burnley, despite picking up a head injury in the draw with Crystal Palace.

The Southampton midfielder suffered a cut to his head in Wednesday night’s 1-1 draw at St Mary’s, finishing the match with a bandage.

Speaking in his press conference on Thursday morning, Hasenhüttl explained they would be taking a look at Højbjerg when he arrives for training, but that he did not expect it to be an issue.

The Saints boss also reported that he was not aware of any additional new injury worries ahead of Saturday’s match.

“I don’t know how Pierre is with his head, it was a hard hit,” said Hasenhüttl.

“The cut is not so important, but you always have to pay attention [with those injuries].

“But he is a strong guy and I think he can handle this. Otherwise, I don’t know of any new injuries.”

Existing absentees Ryan Bertrand, Mario Lemina and Michael Obafemi are all set to remain sidelined for the game.
