Jaïdi: Our quality shone through

By SFC Media time Fri 27 Sep Wolves v Saints

Radhi Jaïdi hailed an assured performance from Southampton’s Under-23s as they emerged 2-1 victors over Wolverhampton Wanderers in Premier League 2 on Friday night.

Saints took the lead, but were pegged back shortly after, before Aaron O’Driscoll struck the decider midway through the second half.

The win is only Saints’ second of the campaign, but Jaïdi believes the result represents a turning point in his young side’s season, where performances will begin to yield the points they deserve.

“I’m very pleased with the performance overall,” the Under-23s boss said. “We started the game on the front foot, we imposed ourselves and played good football.

"There was good movement and clever combinations. Credit to the boys, they've applied the work we've done in recent weeks.

"I can't say much more than I'm proud of all of the boys. Especially the younger ones who came in and made a very positive impact.

"We have good young players at this club who need time and need an opportunity, like tonight. I'm really pleased with their contribution.

"It's a long-term process, working with Academy players. The results come and go, we're working towards the future. Tonight, we were the team who wanted the three points more and we showed our quality."
