In a year of derby day wins, exotic kit launches, iconic team goals and Premier League records, there's been plenty to celebrate over on Twitter. Here's our collection from the past twelve months...
Stu feels the love on Valentines Day...
Stuart Armstrong must have felt particularly loved up after receiving this note on Valentines Day. As far as we're aware the sender of the note remains anonymous, but it's sure to be an opinion shared by many.
Long breaks Premier League records...
It's a feat that won't be broken for some time; Shane Long pressed the Watford defence from kick-off, getting the better of Craig Cathcart whose attempted clearance fell straight into the Irishman's path, leaving only Ben Foster to beat. The rest, as they say, is history.
Tom O'Connor eclipses Lionel Messi...
Lionel Messi stepped up against Liverpool on the first of May and beat Alisson Becker with a world class free-kick in the Champions League semi-final first leg. Two days later, Saints' own Tom O'Connor stepped up against Aston Villa and beat Viljami Sinisalo with a world class free-kick in the Premier League 2 play-off final. Was it better? Gary Linekar thinks so...
Saynts Festival...
Summer is a time for sun, beaches, festivals and, of course, kit launches. This year we thought, why not combine the lot? Relive the moment in May when Mbilly McFarmer was tasked with hosting the Southampton FC kit launch on a desert island.
Ché joins the Ralph Express...
Many people are on their travels during the summer. Ralph Hasenhüttl picked up the Moussa Djenepo on the 13th of June, before making a second trip on the Ralph Express in July to Birmingham. Ché Adams was announced as a Saints player, but not without some unwanted onlookers in the skies above.
Maya's spell check...
At Saints it's all about improving every day, as a footballer and as a person. Maya Yoshida showcased this on the pre-season tour of Austria, highlighting how hard work and dedication go a long way...even if it's just to spell out the name of the actor who played Terminator.
Seeing their true colours...
After shaking things up with our own kit launch, it's always good to see what the other clubs are offering before the start of the new season. It seems that lot down the road fancied adding a bit of red to their traditional blue home kit, an opportunity that couldn't be missed.
Derby delight...
It was the first Hampshire derby in seven years. Away from home, against a Portsmouth team looking to continue their rise back up the football league; the makings were there for a possible cup shock. What followed was a dominating performance on and off the pitch. All together now...
Hampshire's red and white...
Something we knew beforehand of course, but it's always good to have another result just to confirm Hampshire's red and white dominance. Fratton park was looking particularly red and white on the 24th of September.
Team work makes the dream work...
Saints' second goal at Chelsea on Boxing Day perfectly summed up the footballing philosophy of Ralph Hasenhüttl and his staff. Calm, controlled possession before striking the final blow. Sit back, relax, and relive that goal all over again...
