It may be Bank Holiday Monday, but we’re still in position to update you on all things Southampton Football Club in your weekly update…

Saints return to Staplewood

Last week Southampton’s players returned to Staplewood to resume training for the first time since the coronavirus lockdown.

Players donned face masks as they trained in small groups, led by manager Ralph Hasenhüttl and his coaching staff.

Vote for your Women’s Player of the Season

Today is the final day of voting to crown the Southampton FC Women Player of the Season.

It was a near perfect league campaign for Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side in 2019/20, who remained unbeaten until the competition was cancelled in March.

Elsewhere, among the highlights was the FA Cup fourth round tie with Coventry United Ladies, attracting a crowd of 4,510 at St Mary’s.

Saints awarded Tier 1 Plus licence

Southampton Football Club is delighted to confirm it has been awarded a Tier 1 Plus licence for its Regional Talent Club (RTC) ahead of the 2020/21 season, following the Football Association's yearly review process.

The FA conduct an annual review of all RTC setups up and down the country, as a matter of course, with Southampton's judged to be consistently exceeding Tier 1 criteria – both last season and also during 2018/19.

Tier 1 Plus status is reserved for clubs who are seen to be meeting and consequently exceeding such criteria, over the course of at least two consecutive seasons. Saints have become one of only four clubs awarded the licence, joining Brighton & Hove Albion, Leeds United and Manchester United.

Ward-Prowse picks player playlist

James Ward-Prowse is the latest member of the squad to submit his favourite tracks on Spotify, as part of the Saints As One campaign.

Following in the footsteps of Danny Ings, Jack Stephens, Alex McCarthy and many more, Ward-Prowse’s 10-song playlist is available to download now.

Saints legends visit The Isolate Inn

The Isolate Inn, brought to you by Official Beer Partner Kingfisher, is a virtual pub where Saints legends have met supporters and reminisced over their playing days.

After James Beattie took on Saints fan Andrew from Cornwall in a quiz about his seven-year stay with the club, Matt Le Tissier joined host Tom Deacon to discuss his Dream Pub Team.

Le Tiss reveals which goalkeeper he'd invite just to remind him of one of his many incredible goals, and who would be drinking lime and soda in The Isolate Inn.

Saints Rewind: Farewell to The Dell

Last week we celebrated the 19th anniversary of Saints’ last game at The Dell with a look back at the famous 3-2 win over Arsenal from 2001.

Saints legends Matt Le Tissier and Claus Lundekvam joined host Kenzie Benali to discuss their memories of the day in the latest episode of Saints Rewind.

Le Tissier’s last-gasp winner would go down as one of the most iconic goals ever scored at the old stadium, and is well worth another look.
