SOUTHAMPTON FC legend, Matt Le Tissier, and Iwan Thomas have been named as the newest ambassadors for Saints Foundation.

Earlier in June, both Kenzie and Franny Benali were named, joining Southampton FC captain James Ward-Prowse and Maya Yoshida, as those who represent the club’s official charity in ambassadorial roles.

Now, Matt Le Tissier and Iwan Thomas join the line-up having previously spent time working closely with the cause in and around Southampton.

Their duties will see them appear at Saints Foundation events, whilst supporting projects throughout the city to help continue the charity’s mission of transforming lives in and around Southampton.

Greg Baker, Head of Saints Foundation, welcomed two of Southampton’s most influential figures into the fold, knowing they will be ever supportive of the charity.

IGreg remarked: “Iwan and Matt have both been long-time supporters of Saints Foundation and we are thrilled to bring them onboard in an official capacity.

“They have both been huge advocates of our work, whether at events like the Big Saints Quiz or The Big Stadium Sleep Out, and have always been generous with their time in the community.

“It’s a real pleasure to reward that with this role, and alongside our four other ambassadors, we know they can inspire some real, positive change for our city.”

Commenting on his new role, Matt Le Tissier added: “Over the last few months, I have been helping out down at FareShare with the staff of Saints Foundation, packing and delivering food to those most vulnerable due to the current pandemic.

“Working alongside them has once again, as it has over the last few years, really shown the impact the charity has on the community and I am excited to be joining the team.

Iwan Thomas was also proud to be named an official ambassador, acknowledging the great work of Saints Foundation.

“I have seen first-hand the work they do, and I am really excited to get back out and do what I can do help. It’s a really proud day for me.”

The charity is due to announce more ambassadors in the near future with more details about the current ambassadors’ involvement to be released soon.
