One of Southampton's longest-serving current players, Oriol Romeu signed a two-and-a-half year contract extension this week; just rewards for an extremely successful five years at St Mary's.
The manager was quick to praise the impact of Romeu during his reign at the club, with spells in and out of the team doing nothing to dent the professionalism of the midfielder, who Hasenhüttl hails as the ultimate "role model".
Since the turn of the new season, Romeu has been a constant fixture in Saints' midfield and the boss was delighted to see him commit his future to the club, whilst also hinting at the possibility of other players following suit.
Talking directly about Romeu, the boss said: "We need players who have this professionalism because he is definitely a role model for working hard for this club and this team.
"This is the reason why there is no player more deserving in the country than him and it is the exact reason why we've extended his contract. He was immediately keen to do it also.
"It's a good message for the other lads too, who we want to extend the contracts of. I think Oriol feels that there is something growing here at this club and he wants to be a part of that.
"They should show us as quickly as possible that they want to be a part of us because I think the train is leaving now and it's definitely something that we want to know; who wants to follow with us."
