WHAT’S AT STAKE?
The unbeaten run continued for Saints following the 1-1 draw against Wolves on Monday and the hosts currently sit fifth, three points behind leaders Tottenham and five places above Manchester United.
The Red Devils come into the game on a run of three consecutive wins, two of those in the Premier League. Ole Gunnar Solksjær can also create a new club record of eight successive top flight away wins with victory on the south coast.
TEAM NEWS
Ralph Hasenhüttl will still be without Danny Ings and Nathan Redmond, but has otherwise reported a clean bill of health.
The boss is hopeful that the pair could feature against Brighton & Hove Albion a week on Monday.
For Manchester United, midfield duo Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba are likely to be unavailable, along with former Saint Luke Shaw and Phil Jones.
Midfielder Jesse Lingard is now available after self-isolating due to COVID-19 regulations, with Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford all hopeful of being fit.
THE MANAGERS
Ralph Hasenhüttl: “They are a good team, every team that has such quality when they play together is tough to win against.
“We need to find solutions to hurt them and create a few issues. If we do it together and well, it is possible and this what we need. We need a slight chance, see it and grab it with both hands.
Ole Gunnar Solksjær: "They've done well and have made great improvements.
"We drew twice with them last season, so this is a game we can make an improvement on."
ONES TO WATCH
Theo Walcott: Since joining on loan from Everton, Walcott has hit the ground running for Saints.
With one goal and two assists from four matches, the 31-year-old has enhanced the side's attacking prowess with the team scoring ten goals in those four games.
Bruno Fernandes: The Portuguese midfielder has been a stand out performer for United since his arrival in January.
The 26-year-old already has 14 goals to his name in 22 appearances, and will be a constant threat as shown with 14 attacking returns in the visitors' opening eight games this season.
