Hasenhüttl has faith in Vokins

With Ryan Bertrand suspended for Southampton's Premier League match against Arsenal, youngster Jake Vokins looks set to be given another opportunity at left-back, and manager Ralph Hasenhüttl is clear that he has no qualms about putting him in.

Bertrand picked up a fifth booking of the season in the recent outing against Leicester, meaning he has received a one-match ban and is unavailable for Tuesday night's meeting at St Mary's – the second clash with Mikel Arteta's team in a matter of days, following Saints' 1-0 victory in the fourth round of the FA Cup at the weekend.

Academy product Vokins, 20, has only started one Premier League match so far for the club, in a 1-1 home draw with Brighton last season, and three games in total, the most recent of which was last week's 2-0 cup win over Shrewsbury.

But Hasenhüttl has every faith in him ahead of this evening's contest.

"He's always part of our sessions, he knows what we have to do," he said. "He played against Shrewsbury in the cup and last season he also had a few appearances.

"I think he is so far also experienced that he is not nervous anymore and he knows what he has to do, so I am looking forward to the game for him.

"It is tough for him to play, because Ryan made also a good season and is on a very constant high level of playing full-back, but I must say always when he had the chance he showed up and he played good games, so I am not scared when he is playing on this side on Tuesday."
