England's path to the 2022 World Cup hit a brief bump in the road on Tuesday evening, after being held by an ardent Hungary side at Wembley Stadium.

Gareth Southgate's Three Lions are still in pole position to reach Qatar, with John Stones's 37th minute equaliser enough to earn a share of the spoils, as they edge three points clear of nearest rivals Poland. James Ward-Prowse was an unused substitute as the tie ended one apiece.

Group challengers Poland were themselves in action on the night, seeing off Albania in a game marred by fan disruption, causing a brief interruption to the game in the second period. Jan Bednarek completed the 90 minutes as a goal from Karol Swiderski sealed victory, while Southampton loanee Armando Broja played 32 minutes of the tie. Poland overtake Albania in the standings as a result.

Elsewhere, Scotland saw off the Faroe Islands by a single goal, as Lyndon Dykes continued his impressive international form with another goal. The 86th-minute strike salvaged a vital result for the Scots, and kept their World Cup qualifying bid on track. Stuart Armstrong didn't feature.
