Bournemouth emerged victorious in both meetings when these sides met in the 2019/20 Premier League Cup.

Goals from Kornelius Hansen and Pascal Kpohomouh meant Saints had a 2-1 lead as the game entered the closing stages at Vitality Stadium.

Jordan Ibe and Sam Surridge struck late for the hosts to secure an impressive victory and all three points.

MANAGER'S NOTES

“I’m just trying to work out if we’re going to have a team and what the team is going to look like.

“Obviously the Under-17s have a huge game against Chelsea in the morning and I think it’s important that our players play, hopefully in the quarter finals if they get a good result.

“I’d like to give some of our better younger ones back to them to play so we’ll have to check on who we’ve got coming out of the treatment room."

some will have to learn what it's like to be professional footballers and strap themselves up and go again.

“I think it’ll look a lot different to [the Sunderland game]. Obviously this was very, very direct against a pretty old team and Bournemouth will pass it for sure and will probably drop a few senior pros in.

“It’s another really good test. This is what it’s like to be a professional footballer.

“Yes we’re stretched but there’s many footballers that are stretched and they’ve just got to strap themselves up and go again and that’s what we’ll be after.”
