Stuart Armstrong and Ché Adams helped Scotland commence their Nations League campaign with a 2-0 win over Armenia on Wednesday.

After the disappointment of losing their World Cup play-off to Ukraine last week, Steve Clarke’s side immediately bounced back at Hampden Park.

With the Saints duo named in the starting eleven, Armstrong teed up the opening goal of the night as his whipped cross from the left picked out Anthony Ralston at the back post.

Dominant on the night, Scott McKenna converted a second before the break, with Adams closest to adding a third after the restart only for his effort to be well-saved after being played through by Aston Villa’s John McGinn.

With Armstrong completing 75 minutes and Adams withdrawn on 86 minutes, the pair will now prepare for a clash with Republic of Ireland on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Jan Bednarek suffered a difficult night with Poland, as Belgium came from behind to record a resounding 6-1 Nations League win.

Robert Lewandowski initially gave the visitors the lead in Brussels, before a brace from Leandro Trossard and strikes from Axel Witsel, Kevin De Bruyne, Leander Dendoncker and Loïs Openda made it a night to forget for the Saints defender.
